What a North Face jacket means in South Korea

My Topic:

Should we always follow majority opinion?

What I hope to learn from this source:

Students also follow majority opinion but it causes several problems. I want to figure out those problems.

Notes:

1. In South Korea, the explosive popularity of the puffy down jacket has brought about a string of controversy, throwing a light on the specifics of bullying in Korean schools.

2. the jackets are so popular they have been dubbed "the uniform worn over the uniform," or "backbreakers," (thus called for the work put in by parents in order to afford the jackets for their children)

3. According to a Korean blog post, North Face jacket wearers can be immediately classified according to the type of North Face jacket they wear.

Final Thoughts:

There was a 'boom' of The North Face. Its popularity caused students not to make a decision rationally so there are many who bully friends to buy it, or pester parents to buy the jacket. But its cost was not that affordable, so many korean parents were worried if they couldn't buy the jacket to sons or daughters because they kept saying if they don't have it, they would be isolated.
