My Topic:
Should we always follow majority opinion?
What I hope to learn from this source:
How about others? What reasons they are showing to demonstrate the majority is not always true?
Notes:
1. Wow. He is taking an example of red-hot issue, 'gay marriage.' Although many people are arguing that it should not be approved, he thinks not.
2. If America had gone with simple majority rule then the majority of white Southerners would have voted to keep segregation in the 1950s and 1960s.
3. Liberals and conservatives alike are both guilty of using majority rule when it is convenient to their cause and this is wrong. Simple, the writer's emphasizing simple majority rule.
4. The government should consider which is right, no matter how many people agree or disagree with the statement.
Final Thoughts:
Like this article, majority rule could be the only 'simple' and 'convenient' way to determine something. It's not right. People should consider which is really right and logic. The majority is often wrong.
